Field Service Technician (Suwanee, GA - USA)

PACK’R North America is seeking a dynamic and resourceful Field Service Technician to expend his Customer Service Team.

(Workforce: 150 employees – 2022 turnover: 21 M €)

Position overview

Provide customer support by performing preventive maintenance, service, installation, commissioning, training, and consultation, at various customer locations throughout the U.S. and its territories, Canada, Mexico, South and Central America. This position entails at least 60% to 80% of travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation, commissioning and maintaining of equipment at customer’s facility
  • Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting of equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Conduct customer and end-user on-site training
  • Read and interpret electrical documentation, hardware drawings and program terms for troubleshooting
  • Read and comprehend plant drawings and layouts
  • Prepare service reports and complete and submit all service documentation
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety standards and guidelines

Qualifications requirements

  • Preferred A.S. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or combination of education and experience
  • Driver’s license required

Our regular diagnostic visits, periodic maintenance and preventive maintenance maintain the efficiency of your equipment and the quality of your products (dosing precision, screwing quality).

Preventive maintenance

Once the equipment is installed on your site, a preventive maintenance manual is given to you so that your technicians can carry out the main maintenance actions independently.

In its services, PACK’R also proposes to provide the list of spare parts to be obtained in order to be reactive and that your technicians can make the modifications to the equipment as quickly as possible.

Dosing of liquid products: which methods? Focus on weight dosing

Because dosing is a key step in the filling of liquid products, the two are sometimes confused in the common language of professionals. In practice, weight dosing is also called “weight filling”.

With an inaccurate dosing system, a filler-capper with an output of 120 packages/minute operating 24 hours a day, more than 8 liters of product will have been over or under dosed. When it comes to high value-added liquid products, the financial losses can be colossal.

What is batching?

In the packaging machinery industry for liquid products, there are 4 dosing methods:

  • Volumetric dosing
  • The debimetric dosing
  • Visual dosing
  • The weight dosing

The weight filling, also called gravity dosing, is a method to measure the quantity of a product by its weight. In the market of packaging solutions for liquid products, which includes foaming products, viscous products and products with a higher or lower density, weight dosing allows for precise filling thanks to a physical unit of measurement: the kilogram.

In fact, this method is suitable for all types of products and depends only on the machine’s scale. We use our patented “µPACKR” solution as a precise weight measurement. The weighing is subject to legal metrology.
